Touch not working on Extended screen for Smart Boards

On SMART Boards, touch acts on primary screen, rather than Extended screen


When touching the SMART Board, touch events/actions effect the Extended (or second) screen. Rather, the touch events effect the primary screen. This is especially problematic as it can perform unintended actions in another action, such as deleting an email or document on the other screen.

To solve this problem, orient and align the SMART Board to the Extended screen so the SMART Board will know which screen to send the touch events/action.


How to Orient/Align SMART Board


The SMART Board needs to be oriented and aligned to the Extended screen for touch to work on this screen.

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel
    1. Click on the Windows Start menu (Win key)
    2. Type "Control Panel"
    3. Click on the Control Panel to open
  2. In the Control Panel, search for "SMART Board"
  3. Open the SMART Board controls
  4. In the SMART Settings dialog, click on the "Orient/Align the SMART Product" icon
  5. This will open the calibration window on your main screen.  Press the Spacebar to switch the touch input calibration to your extended screen.
  6. Touch all 9 of the calibration points to complete callibration
  7. Click OK on the SMART Settings
  8. Close the Control Panel

Touch should now work on the Extended screen, rather than the primary screen.
