Multiple Repeated Print Outs

PDF files printed to the HP P1102w results in repeated print outs until the paper runs out of paper

Issue

The printer prints the same print job repeatedly until the printer runs out of paper (or the printer is turned off) when printing PDF files from Windows 10 to the HP P1102w printers.  This appears to be an issue with PDF files printed from the Edge browser, which is the default viewer for PDF files in Windows 10.

Workaround

To work around this issue, you can download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader application from http://get.adobe.com/reader.  Once installed, set Reader to be the default viewer for PDF files; see below for instructions.

Setting Adobe Acrobat Reader as Default Viewer

  1. Right-click the thumbnail of a PDF file, and then click Properties
  2. In the file's Properties dialog box, click Change
  3. Choose Adobe Acrobat Reader and then click OK
  4. In the Properties dialog box, click OK

Additional Information

We're not sure why this occurs, and it doesn't necessarily happen from every application. It seems like it happens mainly from the apps that use the more modern-looking print dialog boxes that look like the following:

Older style print dialogs that look like the following seem to print fine:
